As a personal executive or assistant, you might find it manageable doing the ordinary daily tasks. When however it comes to picking the right gifts for employees, it is never a simple decision. The way that you gift will affect productivity and the way other people perceive the company. While the process is hectic, it is important to know how to make the right selection. When you are choosing gifts for employees there are a number of considerations.

One of the first things will be to set a budget. That involves knowing how much you will be willing to spend on the gifting. For you to decide on the most suitable budget, you should consider the value of the relationship with your employees. For instance, they could have been there for many years and therefore you do not mind spending slightly more on them. That would mean you spend more than when you are dealing with newer employees.

In the event that there are many workers, you should set a total budget that you will be willing to spend. The budget is then divided among the gifts which should be bought. There are varied prices for different kinds of gifts, with others being costly. The prices will determine what you can purchase and the number.

The selection of gifts involves a lot of brainstorming. You should avoid impractical items that will act as clutter. For employees that spend more time taking notes, you could consider gifting with personalized diary planners and pens. In addition, you should pick items that are able to last a while. In order for a gift to have a special touch, you should consider personalizing it. The diary for instance might could be embossed in initials of the company.

Gifting needs to be done in a meaningful manner. You would need to choose the most appropriate place and time for the gifting. That has a huge effect on what kind of impact it will have. In general, it is better to have them sent instead of being presented in person. That way, it will be received by the employee in an inconspicuous manner that deters unwanted attention.

An employer is also supposed to make a decision on whether they want to go for cash or non-cash rewards. Traditionally, most employers prefer gifting employees with cash bonuses. Over a period of time however, workers tend to prefer non-cash bonuses which are specific. It could for instance be extra days of vacation. An employer can therefore decide that they are giving things with more lasting value, for instance charity work, paid leave days and travel incentives.

While most companies reward individuals, there is the option of rewarding people as teams. When workers are rewarded as groups, it will bring about a more cooperative behavior and better teamwork. Before you gift individual members of teams, you need to think of what impact it would have on the team.

Gifting is therefore not the easiest of decisions to make. Not all gifts have the same impact. You will need to consider what option would have the biggest impact on your employees.
