Best Strategic Fundraising Methods To Start Using Today

By Scott Campbell

Running a nonprofit takes money, no matter how big or small your organization is. That is why getting donors is essential. In order to get donors to give, you need to employ a number of strategic fundraising methods. This will not only help you to attract new donors, but to retain the ones that you already have.

When asking people to give money to your organization, suggest to them how much money they should give. Do this by asking them to choose different ranges. This increases the chances of them donating more cash than if they were left to give however much they thought was appropriate. Give them the option of also deciding how much they would like to give if it doesn't fall within the ranges that you have suggested.

Ask people to send you monthly gifts. This is much better than getting donations sent to you one time, even if you are getting big one time donations. Regular giving allows you to forge a relationship with the donor, making it possible for them to give you lots of money in the long-term.

Provide social proof of others giving. This motivates others to give since they can see that other people have gone before them. It helps to reinforce the idea in their minds that giving to you is a worthy cause since other people are doing it too. One of the best ways to provide social proof is by showing how much you intend to raise and how much has been donated so far. You can also highlight how many donors have given.

Donors want to know that the money they have given has not been misused. That is why it is important that you are transparent about what you do with the money collected. If possible, publish reports that show how money is allocated. Keep your operational costs low and try to direct as much of the money as possible to the cause being supported.

Donor recognition is important. Donors want to be appreciated and appreciated in public if possible. This boosts their ego, as it shows that they are generous and responsible members of the society. That is why you should come up with a way to recognize donors for their giving.

Practice peer to peer fundraising. This involves getting your donors to fund raise for your charity organization. You can do this by using fundraising software. This will enable your donors to create their own fundraising pages and share it with their family and friends. The software will help you keep track of who has raised how much.

One of the major mistakes that fundraisers do is to fail to ask for the donation. Do not assume that your donors know they are supposed to give. Ask them and then make sure that you define to them how they can give if they want to. Apart from giving cash, you can ask them to join you for any events you are carrying out, join your newsletter list or do whatever else you want.
