Finding Those Reliable Los Angeles Moving Companies

By Betty Wood

Probably at this very point in time you are planning on relocating completely your domicile or even your business operations. This will require services given by any of Los Angeles Moving Companies out there and you want to choose the most reliable one. Do keep on reading in this article so that you can get the best one for your current project.

Before anything do prepare a checklist for your needs. A checklist will help you keep track of all the data that you will come across and remind you of data that you will still need. When it comes to decisions involving money changing hands of any sort, it is always wise to use a checklist.

Do ask around for recommendations first from people most proximate to you, which are your friends and relatives. Also ask around from your neighborhood and place of work. If this does not pan out, then you can always go online and do an internet search. Taking part in forums that deal with the topic should also net you some results.

It is also advised that once you do have a sizable list of at least three to four prospective movers, that you do background checks on each one. You do not want any company with criminal elements or records to be moving things for you. It is also a good idea to ask for a verifiable client list. Screen them further by asking how much experience they have had and what they will do in difficult moving situations.

When you do ask for an estimate, ask the estimator to come to the starting place of your moving project, whether it is a home or an office. Ensure that he does know full well the route details and also the drop off point. Ask him or her to give you full estimates and run through of the entire process, especially in the movement of heavy and difficult items and how this may affect your entire move.

Avoid extra packing costs, which can occur, when you ask companies to assist you. It is very rare that some will assist you and give free packing assistance. If the assistance is not too expensive then do go for it, but packing it yourself makes sure that you are the only one liable for any damages to your property, and no one else. Should the items be too numerous however and you have a deadline to keep, packing assistance may be necessary, but you can always haggle for a cheaper price if it seems too steep. Good companies will actually be able to give you a discount, especially if the volume is there.

Be aware of extra fees that may exist or not exist on the preliminary estimate. That is why you need a full estimate at the very beginning and you should be sure that the mover knows exactly the situation. Sometimes or most of the time, movers will charge extra for difficult moves like going through narrow staircases and windows, oddly shaped entrances and the like.

Look for explicit statements on the moving contract that will protect you as the consumer. There should be an insurance clause that covers breakage and damages and such related indemnities that will cover your loss and keep it at a minimum. Also look for clauses on loss and mishandling as such so you can be fully covered as a consumer.
